FT 4: Lake Ellesmere
Lake Ellesmere/Te Waihora is New Zealand's fourth largest lake. It is the most important wetland habitat of its type in New Zealand and is particularly known for its bird life (migratory and threatened bird species) and fish habitat.
Minimum of basic fitness required. Untracked, sometimes rough ground and maybe very muddy.
Little shelter available. Take a drink bottle (especially if hot) and change of shoes with plastic bag for
the dirty ones. A walking pole is recommended.
